Background
Shree Damaitar Basic School lies only about 10 km from central Kathmandu, yet it lacked basic facilities. It teaches children from ECD to Grade 8 who come from all seven provinces of Nepal. Many live with guardians or in temporary settlements and move often because of their parents' work, so their schooling is regularly disrupted.
Description
Since 2024 AAAK has equipped an ECD classroom, built a permanent roof over the assembly and classroom area, fenced the school compound and built a library room with ceiling, paint, furniture and books. It has also given uniforms, nutritious food, stationery, lunch packets, story books and exercise books, and runs sessions for parents and teachers. The fenced yard is now used for play, parent–teacher meetings, winter study sessions and after-school karate classes.
